"The day was a win for us because we beat one of the top sides"

Peter Mead and his men had a wonderful afternoon after beating the One-Day leaders in Old Boys in the second 20/20 match. After falling short by 20 odd runs in the first match, our boys regrouped and played some very good quality cricket to beat Old Boys in the second match of the day.

Simon Toyer once again showed his class with a nice 44runs in the first match and then a delightful 51 runs in the second match.

Other batsmen to shine on the day were Ryan Hansen how scored 30 runs and Richard “I always look good” O’Halloran who put on a classy 44 runs of his own in the second match.



Simon Toyer has had his photo is most Monday editions of the Northern Daily Leader, the reason could be Simon is coming third in the NDL Best & Fairest Table with 11 points, two behind the leader. Well done Simon and may your outstanding form continue.

In the bowling department Dan Lawrence was the stand out, picking up three wickets in both matches. A great team performance from a side that always turns up ready to perform at their best.

Ground changes

There are some late ground changes, our mighty 1st Grade is now at Chaffey Park, our amazing 2nd Grade is now at Scully Park and our terrific 3rd Grade is playing at Belmore park. Starting times have not changed first match 12.30 and second match 3pm.

Training this Wednesday

The cricket fields are ours once again.

 Now Tamworth is back to normal and the place is ours once again, training and selections for this coming Saturday is this Wednesday.
Our first match back from our short break will be this Saturday 1^st February,  1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd Grade teams will play two 20/20 matches both against Old Boys in this one afternoon. While 4^th Grade will play Old Boys in a 40 over a side One-Dayer.

The most important job in Australia.

 They say Captaining your country in Cricket is the most important job in the country even in front of the office of Prime Minister. Micheal Clark and his side have won the Ashers 5-0 and won the One-Day series.
This will be a summer that people will speak about with enjoyment in many years to come.

 

A blonde woman ran into a police station wailing. She claimed that her house had been broken into.

After she stopped sobbing, the Police Officer requested her for a description of the robber.
"He was tall and dressed in white. He was wearing all sorts of protective pads, gloves and helmet."
"Hmmm...appears to be a cricketer," concluded the policeman.
"Ah officer!" she confirmed, "then he must have been an English cricketer."
"What makes you think that he was English? From the accent?" asked the officer.
"No sir," she replied, "he was in and out so quickly."

A big thank you must go to ALL our City members that assisted in fulfilling our Country Music commitments at Cricket House. There were City boys cooking egg and bacon rolls, manning the showers, manning the boom gate, manning the canteen, we were everywhere from 6am in the morning till 9pm at night.

“We jumped into 4th spot by losing the match”

“We jumped into 4^thspot by losing the match” was the greeting I received from Robby Gregg when I went to watch some of our 2^nd Grade match on Saturday. Robby was referring to our Mighty Fourth Grade side’s final match before Christmas in which they had a narrow lost to Norths. City received one point for the match while Souths received no points at all after giving their opponents bonus points. Meaning our 4^th Grade side has leapfrogged Souths into 4^th spot on the ladder.

Son shows dad how it is done.In the same match Robby Gregg's son Brody showed his dad how it is done by taking three wickets in 2nds, it was an outstanding effort from a young player on his way up.

Both Robby and Brody will be looking for the recommencement of the 4^th Grade competition on Saturday week, 4^th February.

Congratulations to Alison and Cory on the birth of a baby girl. Both baby and mum are doing well but I understand Cory is still trying to recover from the ordeal.

Alison has been a tremendous supporter of our club over many years, always in the background working away. So from everyone at City congratulations on your new arrival.
