Lucky to have club-man like him, Simon Bellamy stepped up and took control of our after the match meal at the City Bowling Club on Saturday Night. Simon organised delivery of ten delicious pizzas. Thank you for that Simon. It was really yummy and very much appreciated.

With the shortish of players for this match, the club called upon Mark Fisher to play 3rd Grade. Mark is still wounded  after breaking his ribs with a collision with Tezza Kamp in 1st Grade a few weeks ago. Mark took to the field for 3rd Grade, holding his rib cage nice and tight whenever he ran after the ball. The 3rd Grades Snickers  Player of the Day Award went to, NO not to Mark but his partner Rikki  for allowing him to play. Rikki has had to put up with Mark's understandable complaints and frustration with his painful situation.                                                               GOOOOOOOO to our partners,  wife's,  girlfriends, mums who support us in our sport at CITY

As a club we pulled through.

As you saw from the teams that are playing in this match against Old Boys, we again unfortunately have so many players being asked to move through the grades from the 1st week to the 2nd week of the match. I appreciate from a players point of view this is not ideal. In the end we had a total of 27 players who are unavailable for either just one week of the two day match or the whole match completely. Our club hasdone a marvelous job to ensure that we fielded four teams, a very big THANK YOU must go to all the player for their support during this match.

On Saturday two captains took the ball and the wickets for their teams. In 2nd Grade Peter he just keeps getting better Mead took 6 wickets for 46 off 13 overs. While over at 3rd's Trent captain for the day Balderston also took 6 wickets for 30 runs from his 12 overs.

A early Friday story

Our three mates were discussing about coincidences. Ritchie said, " my wife was reading a "tale of two cities" and she gave birth to twins"
"Thats funny", Scotty remarked, "my wife was reading 'the three musketeers' and she gave birth to triplets"
Sugar shouted, "Good God, I have to rush home!"
When asked what the problem was, he spluttered, " When I left the house, my wife was reading "The Dirty Dozen"!!!

Results from Rd 3 matches played against Norths

1^st Grade: City won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Norths declared their innings closed at 6/330 off 67 overs. Best bowling:  Simon Toyer 2/34 off 7 overs.
In reply City were dismissed for a total of 118 runs in the 39^th over. Best batting:  Harrison Kelly 36 runs; Tait Jordan 20 runs.
Norths enforced the follow-on. City were dismissed in their 2nd innings for a total of 125 runs in the 50^thover. Best batting:  Ryan Hansen 34 runs; Simon Toyer 20 runs.
 A great effort by Jack McVey and Dan Rogers.  They tried to withstand the Norths bowling attack by batting out the last 17 overs and falling 12 minutes short of holding off an outright defeat.

2^nd Grade: City lost the toss and were sent out to bowl first.
Norths were dismissed for a total of 221 runs in the 44^th over. Best bowling:  Simon Bellamy 4/77 off 12 overs; Luke Dennis 3/65 off 12 overs; Danny Malpe 2/22 off 8 overs.
In reply City were dismissed for a total of 165 runs in the 65^th over. Best batting:  Peter Mead 55 runs; Mat Ballantine 33 runs.
Norths batted a second time and were 7/158 off 37 overs at the end of the match. Best bowling:   Sam Brown 5/31 off 7.1 overs.
Congratulations to Sam Brown on taking a 5 wicket haul.

3^rd Grade: City won the toss and elected to bat first.
City were dismissed for a total of 115 runs in the 44^th over.
Best batting:   Rod Pryor 25 runs; Josh Miles 19 runs; Graeme Schwenke 17 runs; Paul Lawrence 15 runs N/O.
In reply Norths declared their innings closed at 8/275 in the 56^th over.
Best bowling:  Paul Lawrence 3/63 off 13 overs; Luke Dennis 2/18 off 7.3 overs.
City went out to bat for a second innings and were dismissed for a total of 65 runs in the 29^thover. Best batting:  Trent Balderston 30 runs.

4^th Grade: City lost the toss and were sent out to bat first.
City were dismissed for a total of 175 runs in the 63^rd over. Best batting:  James Wallace 29 runs; Mark Chew 28 runs; Doug Truman 25 runs.
In reply Norths were dismissed for a total of 183 runs in the 62^nd over. Best bowling:   Neil Cooke 3/22 off 8 overs; Lachlan Cooke 2/45 off 13 overs; Joey Mead 2/15 off 8 overs. City's young juniors are performing so well.

City United with be holding it’s Christmas party on the 7^th December at the Tamworth City Bowling Club after the match. There will lots of food as well as Christmas cake with ice cream as desert. Barefoot bowls will be available for those who are willing. There will be lots of fun. Further information will be posted as it comes to hand.

Training this afternoon, it is important that we continue to improve and develop our cricket skills as individuals and more broadly as a club. The numbers at training have been very good with everyone putting in, lets continue with that enthusiasm.

Our President, feeling a bit glum after scoring two ducks on Saturday.

The results from the weekend matches didn’t go our way but the season is a long one with many more matches to be played. There were positives from very match, with us all looking forward to Old Boys in another two-dayer starting this Saturday.

Our President Terry is still positive about the club prospects of achieving it’s “CLUB GOAL” of having all four teams playing in the semi-finals come March. The teams taking the field this season bear little resemblance to the teams from last season, so it will take time for players to feel comfortable and find their feet in the higher grades.

Personally we can train hard and set ourselves our own achievable short term goals and take a positive away from every match we play.

Harrison scores his second century of the season

HARRISON Kelly smacked his second century in as many innings on Friday night for McDonald’s in the Tamworth Twenty20 Premier League pummelling 103 off just 75 balls.
Kelly picked up where he left off for Tamworth last Sunday in the MA Connolly Cup where he sored 115 runs.
