A small boy was at the zoo with his father.  They were looking at the tigers, and his father was telling him how ferocious they were.
“Daddy, if the tigers got out and ate you up…”
“Yes, son?” the father asked, ready to console him.
“ …Which bus would I take home?”

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy father’s day CITY

Father's Day this Sunday

I remember a story of my own son, when he was in Year 5 at Tamworth South Public School.
I passing by his bedroom and was astonished to see that his bed was nicely made
and everything was picked up and put away.
Then I saw an envelope, propped up prominently on the pillow that was addressed to 'Dad.'
With hesitation I opened the envelope and read the letter.
“Dear Dad:
It is with great regret and sorrow that I'm writing you. I had to elope with my new girlfriend freckled faced Sally Pearson. But I knew you would not approve of her because of her belly piercing, that she has a laugh like a hyena and I think she smokes and the fact that she is much older than I am, being in year 6.
Sally said that we will be very happy together. Her pop owns a shed in the bush and has a stack of firewood for the whole winter. Don't worry Dad. I'm 11 now and I know how to take care of myself.
Someday I'm sure that we will be back to visit so that you can get to know your grandchildren.
Love, Your Son
PS.
Dad, none of the above is true. I'm over at Tommy's house.
I just wanted to remind you that there are worse things in life than a Report card That's in my center desk drawer.
I love you. Get mum to call me when it's safe to come home.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO to all the city fathers out there have a great day CITY

Numbers good at training.

We held a very successful and well attended first training session on Sunday. It was fantastic to so many old faces there. We were also able to welcome a number of new players to our club.

The player that caught my eye was Andy Jarrett, looking as slim and fit as ever. He is good player to have around always smiling and having a joke until it’s his turn to have a bowl and then it’s down to business.

Training will continue this Sunday (fathers day) from 10am till noon, at Riverside 2 nets.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
our club is so lucky to have players like Andy amongst us CITY

The City Bowling Club has prominently displayed both out Life Membership and Premiership shields with in the club and we thank them for that.
City United really values the partnership it has with the Tamworth City Bowling Club.  We hope that the partnership between both clubs can continue for many seasons to come.

City's own "TOP GUN"

City United’s own Lachlan Cooke is a dead set lookalike for Tom Cruise character Pete "Maverick" Mitchell in movie the Top Gun. Last season our TOP GUN took 29 wicket and in one spell had the amazing figures of 7 wickets for 22 runs.

GOOOOOOOOOOO with ball in hand he is always pushing the limits CITY

What's doing?

I had a chat with our President - Terry acknowledged the results from last season were outstanding and exceeded everyone’s expectations with success both on and off the field. Terry said that at the beginning of the season, City had high hopes of all 4 grades reaching the finals. Although only 3 of those grades did in fact reach the finals, Terry said that City United will continue to look to the future season and build from that success. He was hoping for more silverware to be added to the Club’s trophy cabinet after 3rd Grade won last year’s Minor and Major Premiership as well as the One Day final. City’s Fourth Grade side also won the Minor Premiership last season.

He said the Club will continue to promote enjoyment and friendship within the Club which was seen throughout last season.

City’s 1st grade team has lost a number of its players from last season and will again look to youth as the rebuilding of 1st grade continues this season. First Grade’s goal this season will be to make the semi-finals and continue to develop the talent of the many juniors within the Club. The Club will also welcome any new players to the club wanting to secure a place in 1st Grade where they can challenge themselves at that high level of cricket.

City will start official training early, with the first training run set down for Sunday 25th August at 10.00am at Riverside 2. City will continue to train every Sunday morning leading in to the first match of the season. Dan Whale has already and will again organise some additional training up to the first official training day for the very keen members. City has its own bowling machine and other valued training equipment that will be in full use in the weeks ahead leading into the first match of the season set down for 12th October against Wests in a One-Dayer.

Players from last years, City V's City pre-season match.
In addition, City is looking forward to playing some pre-season matches against our sister clubs, in both Dubbo and Armidale. The Armidale match will be played in Armidale while the Dubbo pre-season match is hoping to be played in Tamworth.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
the weather is warming up as is the expectation to the season ahead CITY

Give me Test match cricket over any One-Day competition any day.

Like most Australians I was excited about the 1st Test of the Ashes and watched most of it, my excitement waned through the 2ndTest but after the first day of the 3rd Test I’m back being excited again.

Watching the Pommy crowd reminds me of a true story.

A  English woman went to the local Coastline newspaper office to publish the obituary for her recently deceased husband. Her late husband loved his cricket and didn't give her the time that he should have.
The obit editor Michael McRae informed her that there is a charge of 50 cents per word.
She paused, reflected, and then said, "Well then, let it read, "Angus MacPherson  died."
Amused at the woman's thrift, Michael told her that there  is a seven word minimum for all obituaries.
She thought it over and in a few seconds said, "In that case, let it  read........
"Angus  MacPherson died. Cricket Kit for sale.”
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO four more sleepless nights ahead CITY
