Kind words from the President of the TDCA.

The Tamworth & District Cricket Association held it AGM last night. At that meeting the executive from last season was re-elected.

Richard Bullock was re-elected as President of the Association. In Richard’s annual report he made special mention of City United, he congratulated the club in the way the club had built up a tremendous club spirit within the club, which he saw throughout last season.

This coming season, all clubs will be using the Dukes Cricket Ball in a three year deal with the association. The remaining Kookaburra Cricket Balls held by the clubs will be utilized at the beginning of the season before progressing onto the Dukes.

After some speculations the format of Forth Grade remains the same.

At the meeting it was passed that all Umpires for the coming season will be appointed and paid directly by the TDCA.

Batting session goes well.

. There was a good turn out last Sunday for City's preseason batting session held at the Indoor Sports Dome The session was organized by Dan Whale. So impressed was Dan with how the session went that he will hold another session in the near future.                                 GOOOOOOOOOOO as my old school coach would always say "keep that front elbow up" CITY.

If you can’t beat them join them.

The TDCA held a Think-tank last Sunday to discuss a range of issues relating to the upcoming season. City United was well represented at that meeting and added it’s thoughts to the season ahead. One of the items that were discussed was the Cricket balls being used both in the Tamworth Competition as well as on the representative arena.  The TDCA is looking into swapping from using Kookaburra to the Dukes Cricket ball. That’s right the kind of ball that the Poms bowlers are using to go through the Aussie batting line up at the moment.

The AGM of the TDCA will be held on Wednesday the 31st July. City will inform it’s members of any alterations to the rules from that meeting.

GOOOOOOOOO I have spoken to both Tezza and Rhino about the swap and both said “as long as it is red and round, we will still take wickets with it.”CITY

Information about an Umpiring Course

So you need more Cricket Umpires - well here is the 2013/14 assistance package for Associations. Tamworth Umpires and Scorers Association are hosting a Law's of Cricket Training course on Sat 24th and Sunday 25th August 2013, Cricket House in Tamworth.

You are all invited to attend; promote and support members of your community to participate and learn the craft of Cricket Umpiring.

Your assistance in circulating and promoting this course information throughout your cricket community network would be greatly appreciated. Executive Officer, NSWCUSA, Darren Goodger has agreed to personally deliver this course for Central North, but requires a minimum of 12 participants for the course to go ahead so it is really important that all interested participants register by Friday 9th August.

All course enquires should be directed to Simon Hood - Course Convenor for Tamworth, tamworthcricketumpires@hotmail.comtamworthcricketumpires@hotmail.com
>, Jonathon Wicks - Northern Inland Umpires President - jwicksno1@hotmail.comjwicksno1@hotmail.com> or myself.

It has been three years since a course has been hosted in the region due to lack of numbers so we need to work hard on getting people to commit to the course weekend and help build the delivery of cricket throughout the Zone at all levels.

Cheers
