Ryan Hansen 100 Reasons to Smile

Ryan's score of 100 off 133 balls helped guide the Tamworth 16s rep team to victory in the North West Junior Cricket Association Under 16s final played at Riverside 1.

Tamworth hit 7/224 off their 50 overs and dismissed Coonabarabran/Quirindi for 99 in 39 overs. Quite a decisive victory.

Ryan also received a trophy for the highest batting aggregate this season in the NWJCA under 16s competition.

Ryan opened the batting with fellow City player Tim Paynter who together put on an opening partnership of 63 runs for the first wicket. Good to hear lads!

Round 14 Results vs South Tamworth

1st Grade
Day 2 and Souths resumed their first innings, finally being dismissed for 166 in the 50th over. An overall lead of 57 runs.
Best bowling: Jake Philp 3/66 off 17 overs; Steve Ballantine 2/34 off 8 overs; Leo Steyn 1/0 off 1 over.
City were soundly beaten in the second innings only amassing a score of 65 after Souths young speedster, Angus McNeill took 8/25 off 13 overs.
Best batting: Daniel Lawrence 25 runs; Bill North 16 runs in his last game for City United; Richie O’Halloran 11 runs.
Souths required only 7 runs and 2 overs to beat City outright.

2nd Grade
In reply to City United’s first innings total of 151, Souths were dismissed for 125 in 34 overs on day 2.
Best bowling: Jacob Hawley 5/26 off 13.4 overs; Simon Bellamy 2/43 off 9 overs; Brock Hawley 1/12 off 5 overs.
City took first innings points.
City batted a second time and were dismissed for 129 in 35 overs.
Best batting: David Weekes 39 runs; Sean Hancock 24 runs; Richard Ingram 16 runs.
Souths were left to chase down 156 runs off 28 overs and in doing so they claimed an outright win. They finished the day at 4/162.
Best bowling: Brock Hawley 2/41 off 8 overs; Jacob Hawley 1/40 off 9 overs.

3rd Grade
City resumed batting day 2 chasing a further 210 runs, with some good partnerships with Peter and Cory and then Cory and Dave in the end City fell 20 runs short, but the lads had a good hard dig with the bat.
Best Batting: Cory Callcott 53 runs; Peter Mead 40 runs; John Miskle 31 runs
Best Bowling: Dan Mitchell 24-8-2-36; Peter Mead 10-2-2-36; Glenn Ryan 12-3-2-42; Dave Carrol 12-2-2-46

4th Grade
City continued on Day 2 batting in their first innings and reached a total of 187 off 71 overs. A lead of 82 runs and taking first innings points.
Best batting: Terry Skewes 58 runs; Mark Chew 54 runs; Tim Skewes 21 runs.
At the end of the day’s play, Souths reached 9/141 off 47 overs.

First Grade
City won the toss and elected to bat first.
City were all out for 107 in 43 overs.
Best batting: Jake Philp 23 runs; Richie O’Halloran 19 runs; Leo Steyn 16 runs.
In reply, Souths are 7/125 off 37 overs at stumps on day 1.
Best bowling: Matt Walter 2/23 off 15 overs; Jake Philp 2/48 off 11 overs; Richie O’Halloran 2/35 off 8 overs.

City were in a good position having Souths down 6/59 in the 24th over until Tom Groth came to the crease and hit an unbeaten 52 runs. Souths take 1st innings points. Matt Walter bowled exceptionally well in his last game for City United.

Second Grade
City won the toss and elected to bat.
City were all out for 151 in 57 overs.
Best batting: Neil Cooke 42 runs; Graeme Schwenke 30 runs; Mark Fisher 23 runs.
In reply, Souths are 5/85 off 29 overs at stumps on day 1.
Best bowling: Jacob Hawley 3/25 off 12 overs; Jack McVey 2/20 off 8 overs.
City will be attempting to dismiss Souths early on day 2 to take 1st innings points.

Third Grade
City lost the toss and were sent out to field.
City dismissed souths for 231 in 74 overs on an unusual good playing deck at Riverside 5.

Results from Rd 13 One Day matches vs Bective

It was a momentous weekend for City United Cricket Club with wins across all 4 grades. Can anyone remember when that last happened? Hearty congratulations to all our players and the efforts they have been putting into there cricket over the current season with the rewards just starting to show. There were plenty of players and their supporters on hand to help the boys celebrate success with pizza and many a cold drink at the City Bowling Club at the end of the day, well done CUCC!

First Grade
City lost the toss and were sent in to bat.
City made 8/120 off their 40 overs.
Best batting - Dan Whale 26 runs; Richie O’Halloran 26 runs; Pat Dwyer 17 runs; Bill North 17 runs N/O.
In reply Bective were dismissed for 88 runs in the 33rd over.
Best bowling - Jake Phil 3/16 off 8 overs; Bill North 3/15 off 3.2 overs; Matt Walter 2/19 off 6 overs.
The first win of the season for 1st grade and to beat the mighty Bective team was a great triumph.

Second Grade
City won the toss and elected to bowl.
Bective were dismissed for 95 in the 28th over.
Best bowling - Brock Hawley 4/22 off 8 overs; Simon Bellamy 3/36 off 8 overs.
In reply City hit 6/96 in 20 overs.
Best batting - Richard Ingram 22 runs; Brock Hawley 16 runs N/O; Paul Fisher 16 runs N/O.
Another good win for 2nd grade and earning a bonus point.

Third Grade
City won the toss and elected to bat.
City were dismissed for 150 in the 35th over.
Best batting – Peter Mead 42 runs; David Holzigal 27 runs; Dan Mitchell 15 runs; Trent Balderston 15 runs.
In reply, Bective were dismissed for 44 in the 21st over.
Best bowling – Dan Mitchell 6/13 off 8 overs.
Mighty 3rds continue on their winning way and have became minor premiers of the one day competition.

Fourth Grade
After a washout last week, 4th grade were reduced to a one day match against Old Boys.
City won the toss and elected to bowl.
Old Boys were dismissed for 86 in the 36th over.
Best bowling - Gary Whale 2/8 off 4 overs; Paul Lawrence 1/8 off 7 overs; Terry Kampe 1/7 off 4 overs.
In reply City hit 1/93 off 26 overs.

All Cricket Cancelled - Saturday 4th February

All TDCA Grade Cricket has been called off this Saturday 4th February due to the wet weather around.

Also, The Northern Inland Twenty20 Championships in Armidale this Sunday has also been called off and will now be held on Sunday 26 February 2012 in Tamworth.

CUCC Training will resume this Tuesday and Thursday for all grades, weather permitting from 5pm at THS nets.
